John Young
Operating Advisor
John Young is an expert in the areas of strategic human resources and organization design. From 1983 through 2004, Mr. Young led and developed the Human Resources function of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts during a period of rapid global growth and enhancement of brand image through a strategic focus on personalized customer service. His role involved providing advice, policy guidance, and systems support to operating management, human resources and corporate staff as the company grew from 13 hotels in three countries to more than 60 hotels and resorts in 29 countries. The employee team increased from 6,000 to more than 32,000 during this same period.

Mr. Young joined Four Seasons as Vice President, Human Resources, in 1983 and was promoted within a year to Senior Vice President and later to Executive Vice President. He served as a member of the Company's Management Committee and as staff liaison to the Compensation Committee of the Board for more than 20 years.

Before joining Four Seasons, Mr. Young worked as Vice President, Human Resources, in various divisions of Lex Service Group for more than 12 years. After graduating with an M.A. from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland), Mr. Young completed post-graduate studies in what was then called Personnel Management at the University of Strathclyde (Scotland). He also earned a M.S. in Organizational Behavior (with Honors). He holds the professional designation Certified Human Resources Practitioner (CHRP).

Mr. Young joined North Castle as an Operating Advisor in 2004, where he assists North Castle portfolio companies on all aspects of human resources and organizational design. Mr. Young currently serves on the Board of Directors of Red Door Spas, Equinox Fitness and Network Hardware.
