Augustine L. Nieto II is one of the most successful and innovative pioneers in the U.S. fitness industry. In 1977, at the age of 19, he co-founded Lifecycle, Inc., when he invented the now-famous computerized bicycle of the same name. He negotiated the sale of Lifecycle to Bally Manufacturing Corporation in 1984. A year later, Mr. Nieto was named President of Life Fitness, Inc., the newly coined Bally subsidiary. Today, Life Fitness, having repeatedly multiplied in size, is the largest commercial manufacturer of fitness equipment in the world.
Mr. Nieto joined North Castle as an Operating Advisor in 2001 and brings to the firm an unrivaled expertise in anticipating consumer needs, developing products and services to meet those needs, and building and managing brands within the health and fitness industry. A true entrepreneur, Mr. Nieto holds 11 patents in computerized exercise equipment. Mr. Nieto is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization, where he served as the Chairman of the Chicago chapter and the Education Chairperson.
He earned a degree in economics and financial accounting from Claremont McKenna College. In addition to having served on the Board of Directors of EAS and GEI, he currently serves as Chairman of Octane Fitness.
