According to the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association, the Canadian fitness club industry reached $1.8 billion in revenues in 2006. The Canadian fitness club market is composed of approximately 4,900 clubs with 4.5 million members. Canada currently has the 4th highest penetration rate globally with 15% of its total population holding a fitness club membership. However, the Canadian market is relatively underserved with the 5th highest number of clubs.

North Castle and management believe an opportunity exists for the World Health Club to build best in class geographic fitness club clusters in Western Canadian markets to serve populations with attractive demographic and psychographic characteristics.
